Kitchen Renovations in Toronto

Because Toronto kitchens are drastically different from their older counterparts, they usually require extensive renovations to accommodate today's lifestyles. They invariably now encompass numerous upgrades that accommodate an integrated cooking area with the home, as well as substantial electrical, plumbing and HVAC work to support improved appliances and lighting requirements.

The most common upgrade is the open concept. Walls are now being removed and the kitchen is becoming part of the living area. Kitchen countertops are now mostly solid surface materials that include materials such as engineered quartz, natural stone, wood, and stainless steel. They are easy to clean and allow for under mount sinks that are very much desired. The kitchen island (with seating and large work surface areas) acts as a social connection between kitchen and living activities. And appliances and finish materials are now far more practical and aesthetically appealing, as they are in full view of the living area. Improved lighting and electrical has also played an important part; potlights, additional outlets, and undercounter lighting are typical additions to even the most basic kitchen.

Although most of these improvements are common in varying degrees, there are also various styles and designs to consider when renovating your kitchen. From contemporary and modern, to traditional, Ashton Renovations can achieve your vision to compliment the style of your home, and your personal preferences for design.

Contemporary Kitchen in Davisville Village

This kitchen features elements of both old and new characteristic of contemporary design. White shaker cabinetry was used to blend with the European styling of the flat panels within the kitchen. The porcelain apron sink and marble countertop also contrast nicely with the look of the more modern glass backsplash. And the oak flooring and open concept compliment each other well to balance the contemporary design. Most importantly, new windows were added and additional light was created borrowing from the stairway to create more natural lighting.

Traditional - Mississauga

A large family precipitated the design and concept behind this traditional kitchen. Its predominant feature was the removal of a 25' bearing wall dividing the dining room from the kitchen. Light coloured custom wood cabinetry, hand crafted wood working details, earth tone colours and the rugged slate backsplash evoke a more traditional feel of the space. The oak hardwood floor and engineered stone that mimics the look of real stone, contribute to the traditional design of the kitchen as well.

Modern - Toronto Condo Kitchen Renovation

This urban contemporary, or modern kitchen, features elements common to the style of this particular design; the focus of simplicity and clean lines coupled with strong linear features with blocks of space, marmoleum flooring, flat panel open grained and stained wood cabinetry, mixtures of materials such as glass and aluminum, and neutral colours of black and white. These are all distinctive qualities of the modern kitchen.
